The Golden Haggadah
Published in Paperback by Pomegranate (March, 1997)
Author: Bezalel Narkiss
Average review score:

Spanish Haggadah around 1320
The bulk of this book contains color plates of Biblical scenes taking up full pages in the Haggadah - the stories of Genesis and Exodus depicted in marvelous illuminations some of which have a very icon-like quality.

There are intrepetive chapters on the artists and their models for the Biblical minatures including material on the Jewish interpretation of the Christian illuminations' symbols. The final chapter discusses the Shepardi community and the patrons who could fund such an effort as the Golden Haggadah.

For those interested for ritual purposes as well, see The Illuminated Haggadah - the ritual text with illuminations from the British Library including several also in this book.

For anyone interested in religious art or Medieval illuminations, this book is a must have as it explores an aspect of illuminated manuscripts unknown to many of us Gentiles.

Golden Handbook is truly a book of healing!
This is one of the best health books I have read so far. It provides so much valuable advice that nobody these days tells us about. The points and tips are so simple to follow, and there are a variety of foods, herbal remedies, homeopathic remedies, and vitamins recommended in this book, so it really makes it easy to choose! I honestly recommend this book to all people who are worried about todays ailments, and want to protect themselves from them, or even heal themselves!

The Golden Heiress
Published in Paperback by Berkley Pub Group (January, 1990)
Author: Sarah Montrose
Average review score:

A great action-adventure-romance!
If you can find this book, get it! The characters are unforgettable; the plot is a fun whirlwind of activity. Sure, the book stretches all plausibility, but it does it in such a delightful way that I didn't care. By the end, you may have figured out the mystery before the rest of the characters, but you won't care because you won't be disappointed.

The Golden horseshoe
This has to be the best book on U-boats tactics to come out of ww2. The fact that Otto Kretschmer was the leading Ace of ww2 and led the way for others to follow makes this a must must have for my collection.

Golden Inches: The China Memoir of Grace Service
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (July, 1990)
Author: John S. Service
Average review score:

A real pleasure to read.
Grace Services book is not only an amzing account of an important period in modern Chinese history, it is also an important personal, first-hand account of how foreigners worked and lived in pre-liberated China. Set during the late Qing and early Repebulican period, the book tells the story of a family who goes to China committed to serving the Chinese people and how they stand strong in that commitment through wars, civil unrest, and personal tragedies. This book is a must for anyone interested in the pioneering spirit that led foreigners from around the world to settle and live amongst what most westerner at that time (stupidly) considered an "uncivilized" people. The book is made more vivid through detailed historical and personal footnotes added by Grace's son, the noted dipolomat and "China Expert" John S. Service. A wonderful contirubtion to history and a wonderful read!

The Golden Key and Other Stories
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (December, 1981)
Author: G. MacDonald
Average review score:

Wonderful and Warm-hearted Fantasy
This is a wonderful book, containing four beautiful and soul-touching stories. But now it's out of print! I had lent the book to a friend, who mislaid it -- but thankfully he found it, and returned it to me today! The stories are classic and universal, and I am deeply disappointed with Eerdmans for discontinuing this title.
